   RANGE OPERATION GUIDE

                 

GENERAL.  Live firing at the Ellwood-Wampum out door rifle range complex is designed to provide authorized personal access to a facility where they can become proficient with privately-owned firearms.

AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL. The following persons are allowed to fire.

1)  Starting September 1st 2006, only club members possessing a current membership card, will be permitted to use club shooting ranges. This includes Junior members as well. No guest permitted to use the range. Note this rule has been change because of liability issues. 

2)  Personnel approved by the club officers on a case to case basis.

FACILITIES FOR USE. Range availability will be Monday.- Saturday . dawn to dusk. Sun. 1:00pm – 6:00 pm weather and season permitting.

1)      Range is limited to rifles 50 cal. And smaller, pistols, and shotguns (limited to slugs or turkey loads)

2)      No tracers or armor-piercing  ammunition.

RANGE LIMITATIONS AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS. LIVE FIRE SHOOTERS WILL:

1)  Fire only in a authorized direction.

2)  Fire only authorized firearms and ammunition.

3)      Fire at authorized targets, Metal silhouette targets are to be used for silhouette matches only, and no for recreational shooting. No metal shall be used as a target.

4)      Call cease-fire and make safe all firearms when a shooter moves forward of the firing line, or during any unsafe condition.

5)      Cease fire if any wild life enters the range and continue only when range is clear.

6)      Use appropriate eye, and ear protection.

7)      Notify range safety personal or any officer of any unsafe condition, or violations

8)      Police all brass, paper, and other debris that accumulates on the range. Dispose of them in the containers provided.

AUTHORIZED & PROHIBITED FIREARMS AND MATERIALS.

1)      No explosives of any kind!

2)      Fully automatic firearms are authorized. However, the owner must contact the board of directors for approval prior to the live fire event. The board can deny automatic fire shooting for any reason. The member must provide the proper federal licenses, insurance, and all required paperwork 1 week prior to any automatic firearm shoot.

3)      Non club sponsored shoots must be approved by the board. And a trained and certified N.R.A. range safety officer must be present and has full control to stop, or cancel event for any unsafe condition. Shoot sponsor is responsible for any fees, or expenses related.

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AND DRUGS. Shooters may not consume alcoholic  beverages or drugs. ( including prescription and over the counter medications) on range property or before live fire .anyone found to be using drugs or alcohol on club property will loose membership , and will be prosecuted under local laws. ( any guest of a member will also fall under these conditions, and the member will loose all club privileges and membership.

MEDICAL SUPPORT. In the event of a medical emergency , call 911 and notify the C. R. S. O immediately.

PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES.

CHIEF RANGE SAFETY OFFICER

1)  Oversee range maintenance and conduct repairs as needed. (as described under by-laws.)

2)  Conduct training and certify range officers, train as certified any firearms or safety courses 

4)      Inspect range before and after any special events.

5)      Enforce all rules described in this sop and by-laws.

RANGE SAFETY OFFICERS.

1)      Assist C. R. S. O  in all duties with range.

2)      When at club insure all rule are being followed.

3)      Perform any additional duties assigned by C. R. S. O or board of directors.( must comply with by-laws and be a safe and moral duty. All C. R. S. O have the right to refuse any job given them if they fell it to be unfair or out of there duties, it will then be reviewed be the board.

MEMBERS

All members will clean up after themselves and guests and conduct them selves in a manor to reflect the morals of the club and members.
